Cross Country 2023

Cross Country 2023 Recap

The Hodags had a great season this year. The boys team finished 4th and the girls were 2nd at the conference meet. Leading the boys was Greyson Gremban who finished 4th overall and Avrom Barr who finished 9th, and leading the girls was Leah Jamsion who came in 15th and Sophia Miljevich who came in 17th.

Looking ahead: 
The Hodags graduate several seniors on the girls teams and one senior on the boys side. However, the future is bright with several freshmen on both teams coming into the varsity fold. On the boys side Avrom Barr and Jackson Weinzatl are names to watch for in the coming years along with returning senior Greyson Gremban. 
For the girls team 2nd team All-Conference Leah Jamsion graduates, while the Hodags return a strong number of runners including Ella Mijevich, Hayley Schiek, and Kara Monk. Along with returning senior Sophia Miljevich.

The Hodags posted an 5-2 Dual conference meet record, 33-16 Dual conference match record, a score of 16 in the conference tournament and finished with a total of 82 conference points. Senior Tori Riopel was a state qualifier for the Hodags being the first girl to qualify for the state tournement since 2021!

The Hodags graduate four seniors from this years class including solo state qualifier Tori Riopel. Returning for the Hodags include senior Doubles team, Evelyn Sawyer and Brooke Sisel and junior Doubles team of Teagan Turcotte and Willow VanDenHeuvel.

The Hodags once again have had an outstanding swim season going undefeated in conference dual meets, winning the conference, claiming their 5th consecutive sectional title, and claimed the division 2 state title by over 80 points!

Congratulations to Coach Heck on being named coach of the year in the GNC and senior Abi Winnicki for being named Swimmer of the year!

Looking forward:
The Hodags graduate a serious amount of firepower from this senior class. With six seniors including two Division one swimmers (Abi Winnicki - UCLA, Karis Francis - Liberty) the Hodags will look towards the underclassmen to step up into the spots left by these seniors. Returning for their senior campaigns are Lily Thorsen and Ellyse Younker, returning for their junior year are Emma Houg and Millie Gruett. The Hodags also have serious talent in the will be sophomore class consisting of Ella Heck, Vivian Lamers, Celia Francis, June Chiamulera, Kiley Pooch, and Rylee Mickevicius.

Football 2023

 Football 2023 Recap

The Hodags posted an impressive 5-5 record to cap off their 2023 campaign. Going 2-0 in non-conference play, 3-4 in conference play and making it to playoffs earning the #6 seed to face #3 seed Onalaska. This team was one of just six in school history to make it to the post-season and are just one of 10 teams in the last 50 years to post an above .500 record!

Looking ahead: 
The Hodags graduate six starters on the offensive side of the ball and five starters on the defensive side. Offensively the entire backfield graduates however quarterback Truman Lamers will be returning for his senior campaign and returns three of his five offensive linemen. Defensively the Hodags have a starters returning in every position group with both inside linebackers returning.

The Hodags posted an impressive 9-5-3 record under new Head Coach John Weigel to cap off their 2023 campaign. Going 3-2-1 in non-conference play, 6-3-1 in conference play, and winning their regional match against Waupaca before falling to Mosinee in the Regional Final.
